Home Exchange News

November / December 2012

With Christmas approaching, many members continue their exchange planning for next summer. The New Year is the busiest time of year for new members and so if you are thinking of joining with a view to arranging a summer holiday, then now is a good time to get started. It pays to spend a bit of time expanding your web page to make it informative and appealing - this will maximise the level of interest in your home from other members.

Sydney calling!

First time exchanger, Margaret from Surrey, emailed us this week to share her experiences of her recent 2 month exchange to Sydney. This is what she said...

home exchange Australia

Dear Caroline

Just wanted to let you know that our recent home exchange was absolutely wonderful! I just wanted to thank you so much for making it possible!

We spent the months of September and October in their beautiful apartment in Sydney coinciding with our two little grandsons' spring break holiday.

This was our first exchange and everything was really perfect, the location was wonderful a few minutes from the ferry to Circular Quay, they even left us their new automatic car, which I really enjoyed driving.

Once again many thanks for all your tips and especially helping me with the car Insurance for our car here in the UK.

I have already recommended many friends to Homelink. My sister and family who also live in Sydney, were really impressed with our beautiful exchange "home" in Sydney.

Sunday Times

Keep an eye out for the Sunday Times this week as there is a great piece on home exchanging by Chris Haslam who has spoken to a number of HomeLink members. He seemed very enthusiastic about the concept and, who knows, he may even join himself!

Short breaks

While some members use HomeLink only for their main summer holiday, many members also arrange shorter breaks throughout the year - perhaps at half term or Easter. Why not look where your local budget airline flies to and consider members in these areas - this can make short breaks in European cities very affordable. You can find these members by selecting 'Weekend Exhange' on our search form - there are currently more than 700 European members seeking a short break in the UK.

Here are a few short break ideas:
